I purchased the last issued (I think) US International Reply Coupon ($2.15) back in 2009. I looked in my 2010 Scott Specialized and found only the $1.85 coupon (IRC32)listed. Could someone help with a Scott # and value. Since it was the next IRC issued for sale by the USPS, I was going to assume the catalog # was IRC33 but would not have a value. I do know that the USPS does not sell/issue IRCs any longer. (The IRC I possess expired 12/31/2013). Much appreciate the help (and any updated information on USPS issued IRCs)

In looking at my scott specialized I see the first listing is IRC2, so what was IRC1? Now, my catalog is old, so perhaps it was included in later editions?
Thanks, Theron. |

Apparently, your catalog isn't old enough. Here is the listing from the 1986 Specialized. Some investigation is needed to learn why Scott dropped the listing from subsequent editions. Robert |

If it helps narrow it down, I have an old 2002 Scott Specialized and IRC1 is NOT listed there, so one has to assume it was "delisted" sometime between 1987 and 2001. |

The reason that IRC #1 was delisted from the Scott catalog is that IRC #1 does not exist from the USA. IRC #1 (Rome type) was printed with printed lines on the reverse between the paragraphs and the German text was in 4 lines. This was not used by the US. IRC #2 had no printed lines between the paragraph.
There are 8 different types of the Rome IRC (which was introduced in 1907),

The 1994 Specialized includes the following note regarding IRC1: Quote: The existance of No. 1 has been questioned. The Scott editors must have dropped the listing, believing IRC1 does not exist. Robert |

thanks wt1: Obtaining that item was a journey. I went into the Fort Point Station on Dorchester Ave. and they didn't even know what they were. I then went to the Essex Station (?) on Avenue de Lafayette and because it was just outside Boston's China Town Section I was able to acquire one. I guess I might try some specialty tables at the next show to see if I can acquire a couple of earlier issues. Again thanks wt1. (mine is $2.10, mis-remembered value) |

These are so far in the back of the book I didn't know they were of interest to philately. I have one "IRC33" left over from the days when I was actively pursuing "DXCC" (the ham radio guys will know what this means). I didn't think it had any "value" since it was now expired. Silly me.
I don't really have any desire to hang on to it, and offer it (FCFS) free to anyone who might wish to have it. I'd rather see it end up in someone's collection than get tossed out (which I've almost done a time or two).
