Can anyone tell me if the new Abe Lincoln stamps and the 2009 Year of the Ox stamp soak off? I got a complete set on a bubble-wrap lined envelope znd wanted to give them to a fellow who collects U.S. at my stamp club.

Thoughts?

Thank-you!

David

Hi David,

At the Virtual Stamp Club site they give the Lincoln stamp a "Red Light" for soaking meaning it doesn't soak well.
They give the Ox stamp a "Yellow Light" meaning it also doesn't soak easily.

If you want them off the bubble wrap package, you'll have to try one of the alternate ways of soaking (alcohol or rosinal, etc)

They will come off but not with the traditional water method.

I sort of figured they would not soak off.

Oh well.

I tossed them.

Oh..so sad....stamps usually get damaged if they are left in the water too long

If I get some used Lincolns I will ship them you way David, though I haven't seen them used for postage yet.

No need to ship them to me, MKFARM. If the stamps were on paper (as opposed to bubble-wrap), I'd have left them on piece and given them to the chaps in my U.S. Study Group.

I keep the current U.S. airmail stamps, I collect, like that.

The bubble-wrap looked like a nightmare to "thin-down" for an album.
