It's not in the greatest shape. Was hinged. What type is it? I'm confused by all the types listed. Thanks everyone!

It could be scott 13,14,15,16,31,32,33,34 or 35. Not able to tell and with as little left of it, unsure if it can be acurately cataloged. Can't offer you much more. |

I would say it's either Type I or Type V. There isn't much left of the stamp, but we can see that the bottom frame line looks complete, which lets out Types II and III. The bottom frame line is not recut and the top frame line looks broken, so Type IV is highly unlikely. We'd need to see more of the side ornaments and the top of the design to narrow it down to one type. |

All of the distinguishing features needed to accurately identify it have been cut off. I agree with Dudley that the bottom line looks to be complete, but there is still a missing section there to positively know for sure. I would venture to say type V - Scott 35. |

That's what it looks like to me as well, a #35. That has lived a VERY hard life. |

Not that it matters.... I would eliminate all IMPERFS....based on perfs @ left. I would eliminate #35....based on it usually having larger margins that other 10c issues. Granted...I know this can be centered to the left... Oh well... |

I can't imagine why someone, even back when the stamp was used, might want to carve it up in this way! If this had been a later vintage I might have guessed it had done some time in a brass case for encased postage coinage. Maybe some kid got to it in boredom. Who knows?! |
