2014 Scott Specialized has that number also, and in parenthesizes. If the one available to collectors were to be put up for sale, who really knows what it would sell for--maybe north of that number, maybe not.

Well here it is from the 2009 Standard...

But as you know the "Z" Grills are some of the rarest stamps.

Bill Gross/Donald Sundman/Inverted Jenny plate block/US 85A Z grill. I think there is a story in there somewhere.

In the mid-2000's Mystic Stamp Co. traded its copy of 85A to William Gross in exchange for a block of four of the Inverted Jenny. As I recall, the estimated value of 85A was based on the then-recent sale of the Inverted Jenny block.

ETA: I was privileged to see the only two known copies of 85A together at the National Postal Museum in 2006.

Wert

Why worry about minor varieties - save your money for the British Guiana 1c magenta!

Regards.

The 2002 Specialized has it valued at "only" $935,000, before the Mystic Stamp trade.

Indeed they are... I acquired this 85B purely on speculation many
years ago for $150 from an ebay seller... (not listed at 85B, but
I had my suspicions)...

It sat in my TBD's for close to 10 years, when I decided to have it
certed by Bill Weiss, last year...

Can't tell from that image... scan the back at 1200dpi and don't
adjust any settings and upload for everyone to view...

No Wert, grills have nothing to do with a shape. It's determined by the size and number of points

Warning: Do not look for logic in the nomenclature of the various US classic issue grill types.

A MNH 85B with near-VF centering? Congratulations, that's a huge find!
