Hi All, Just wondering if I could get some brains looking at a big rock I cant get around. Im an expat living in Australia for the last 10 years.
After deciding to start trolling through my stamps that I collected over my life I found this 6c Christmas Sc#1414. Click on image to enlarge.
It has 2 obvious missing perfs on the bottom. But when I compared the stamp image area to another stock Sc1414, I noted some very odd differences in the colourings in all areas of the image. The "Christmas" and "National Gallery of Art" is noticeably thinner as well (Stock Image - Sc#1414)
From everything I can see its not a true 1414b or 1414c (Black Omitted and Blue Omitted respectively.) Is this maybe an in between variation? This stamp was not purchased, it was pulled off an envelope by me in my lifetime. After spending hours inspecting and reading I'm stuck as I know its not tampered with and I dont understand the technical side behind printing to get any further. Any help would be greatly appreciate. Thanks so much in advance. Tivon
just a mis-reregistration of the printing plates/screens of the different colors. Pretty common. The missing perforations could be a few missing perforation pins on the machine or it was a bottom margin natural straight edge and someone perforated it.
