He sells stuff on Brookman catalogue value. All the dealers in my area do. I have 3 stamp stores within a 45 minute drive and if I try and buy anything, they immediately whip out the Brookman catalogue and give me a price. I couldn't find a better price on ebay, so I went with it. Coil stamps always seem to demand a premium, since no one wants to pay for the minimum required to order from the USPS.

What's even more annoying is that Scott order number would place the peaches first (2495) followed by the pear (2495A), but every listing I saw for the pair has the pear stamp first.

It's a moot point now, but some are available for less on ebay, in this case, adding a couple of other stamps and offering free shipping:

I saw that listing but decided to pass on it because the stamps were not in Scott order number. I've since found out that almost everyone has them in that order.

Also, how important is Scott order number for stamps that aren't even touching?

In my opinion, not important at all. In fact, if you refer to the introductory section of the Scott Specialized Catalog under the heading "Se-Tenant", the explanation concludes thusly:

Quote:
Unless the se-tenant item has a continuous design...the stamps do not have to be in the same order as shown in the catalog...

Good observation on the Scott listing.

I do like to buy stamps from the dealer every once in a while. I know his prices are inflated compared to ebay, but I do want him ti stay in business.
