Here are a couple I've had for a while -- a C98 and C98A, both in MNH condition. The C98A on the right is the tagged variety and as you can see, my copy has a color shift. I have no idea how that affects the value, but I stumbled across it (through dumb luck) and decided I liked it. Below is a larger scan showing the details in the C98A.

Quote: Great stamp! The color shift is very striking. It's the Bozo look. |

Dianne, it's not like he had great hair to begin with mkfarm. No, I've never tried making my own albums. Last week I was looking at a website called "Jims Stamp Album." It was obvious he makes his own pages, they were very impressive. On thing that annoys me a bit about preprinted albums it it always seems like there are pages where there are blanks for ten stamps: nine easily attainable and one that catalogs for forty thousand dollars :-) Do the catalog makers really think anyone will fill that space?? |

Nugget. I confess it was mostly luck. It was in a stock book with several others C98A, but my eye went right to the one with the shift. C98A is a little more expensive than the regular C98. I don't remember what I paid, but it wasn't much and there was no price difference because of the color shift.

This is quite a find. It's worth whatever an error collector would other documented errors with this issue are in the 4 figures range. |

Thanks warrehouse. There's a similar colorshift on ebay now -- I think I'll watch and see what it sells for. |

Nice find! It's amazing how the eye just zero's in on little errors like that. It's kind of like the way my ex-wife used to zero in on the extremely few tiny character flaws in me. |

Good one, swabbie. Reminds me of an old gag... "I had to divorce my wife on religious grounds -- I'm Catholic and she was Satan" KirkS |
