Hi Dianne, Thank you for the Silver Dart cover. A beautiful block of 4 stamps and nicely centered cancel. That's a real nice looking stamp, by the way. Many thanks Steve

They didn't make it to Perth, Phil. You may not know though, but during the war they did bomb a few towns in the north of western Australia, but all you ever hear about is the bombing of Darwin in the Northern Territory. Steve |

Thank you Dianne from myself and Emma. I think that was the most educational piece of mail, Emma has ever gotten other than a book. We are both very pleased and were surprised at what a good looking stamp it was. thanks again friend |

Actually...The Japs were held up in the Philippines in the Battle of Corregidor and Bataan thus delaying the advance in Australia |

Steve they were going to sacrifice the hole island and hold up on Tassie Also Sydney was shelled by a Jap sub and some ships torpedoed in the Harbour. The only thing that stopped them (the Jap's) from reaching the main land was the Aussie's in New Guinea(latter followed by the ANZUS forces)and the Battle of the Coral Sea |
