I don't have a current Scott's Specialized U.S. catalogue. There were 138,300 30 cent Interior (O23) stamps issused. My 1996 Scott values a mint 30 O23 in Very Fine condition at $75.00. Your stamp is centered to the left, with the perfs almost touching the design= average. Does it still have gum? |

Quote: How do you test for gum? Just look at the back, if it has gum, it will be shiny. Sorry, I don't have a scan of the gum side as I collect used Officials. |

My 2013 Scott Catalog suggests the O23 with "no gum" has a catalog value ranging from $32.50 (VG); $60 (F); or $110 (VF). As suggested earlier, your off-center example is probably valued at the lower end of that range.

Ciletaliph See the image below of your stamp, it appears to me as it might be damaged (see arrows). Could you give us a image of the back of the stamp in question! Perhaps with the image of the backside of the stamp in question, we could give you an estimate. Dave |

Ya it could be damaged as it came out of this pile of stamps. For some reason I just really like this stamp I'll get a scan of the back . |

The 2-cent Dept. of Interior Stamp is an O16 valued at $12.00 (used in VF condition) per my 2013 Scott Specialized. Once again, your example would be graded well below that because of how off-center it is (with perfs actually invading the image at the top). By comparison, the same stamp in VG condition would be valued at $3.75. |

1522 is the old Scott catalog number of O23. Here is a scan from the 1927 Scott catalog (All the world in 1 tiny volume): Scott has renumbered several times (especially the back of the book sections). Most of the current alphabet prefixes for BOB issues were introduced with the 1940 edition, which is when your 1522 became O23. |
