This one blows me away. A big-time dealer selling a rare, used "114a with certificate" on ebay - only the certificate comes from Argentina. Am I off the mark for calling BS?!?

I'd give the Estudio 20 certificate on a you S stamp the same weight I'd ascribe to a certificate signed by Mickey Mouse.

The people who signed this certificate are listed as in house experts at Estudio 20, which is an auction house. Conflict of interest? I also wonder where their expertise lies...

Probably because the Argentinians aren't familiar with the fact that no US specialist will give a cert on a no-grill without original gum.

The ONE used example that the PF certified as genuine was removed from a cover with the OG intact.

I believe the statement by billw2 is not completely accurate. I believe I have seen Scott Replenish Trepel respond to this statement previously, if not on this, then a competitor forum, I believe he said that copies of the middle values and here I am specifically referring to the 15 cent pictorial 118A can be certified genuine without gum and in fact the PF has previously done so. I cannot attest the same for PSE or APEX as their certificates are not able to be examined as easily or at all compared to PF search.

Apologies for typo to above comment. It should have read "Scott Trepel."

I am fairly certain that I reported this stamp to Stamp Smarter some tme ago and contacted the seller about it. As I recall, he ignored me (surprise!).

I think funcitypapa is right as I sort of recall that info somewhere too, but I can not recall why a 118a can be certified without OG but the other values can not.

That does not seem to be the case. All the PF listed genuine 118a examples have gum. Those without gum got a "no opinion".

I got my info from Brian Bleckwinn.

You're not going to get a PFC on a used 114a. Furthermore I believe the stamp was removed from the cover in his presence.

"You're not going to get a PFC on a used 114a".

That is correct. I know Brian very well; we have discussed this subject together as well.
