It's a nondescript small lot of U.S. revenues... or is it?

Tell me what you see.

I see one nice stamp, plus a couple of possibles. I won't spoil it for the rest since you know that I spotted it right away. It is fairly nondescript, except for that one stamp depending on whether it is up or down.

They look perforated to me, but the image is too small to be sure, that's why I said a couple of possibles.

A rouletted block of four is currently unknown, the largest multiple of that stamp is an L shaped block of three.

Sadly, the liberty heads are not rouletted...

revencollector, I myself spy a R226. Image to small the tell if it is a cut cancel or not. A cut cancel to me on piece with an R226 sound interesting. If it was on a complete document/instrument, then very, and more very interesting.

I see a possible R159 or R160, depending upon the overprint reading up or down. Nice stamp if either of those!

It does not have to be an R226, it could be an R249. Again it's too small an image to tell.

Revcollector, it is a R226, easy to tell as the serial number on R266's are thinner and taller than R249.

I saw the suspected either R159 or R160, in my way of special viewing of the image, I really cannot make out whether it is either of the R159 or R160 at all, so I'd have to say, I really can't tell. There is some red there, but not enough to call it for me.

Actually, it is an R249. There is no "SERIES OF XXXX" as part of the design. So the structure/font of the serial numbers may not be distinctly different between them.

I will post larger images of that and the other stamp, which people have already guessed, tonight when I get home.

Revenuecollector, will wait and see the R249, but what happens if it ends up with blue serial numbers instead of red?

Do you mean orange rather than blue? I don't believe R249 was printed with blue serial numbers.

Revenuecollector, red or orange always appears the same to me. You say from the image above it is a R249, to me the serial numbers in the above image are blue. So then if the serial numbers are orange or red and not blue, then what would be the right and proper catalog number. Therefore if the serial numbers are blue, then what would the right and proper catalog number be?

Cheers

Dave

Revenuecollector, just to make sure, the serial number in the stamp in question is "40037"!

Cheers

The serial numbers must be red or orange, regardless of catalog number, as this stamp design in blue was never printed with blue serial numbers.
