Here is a REAL release letter from the OLD CAPITOL PRISON , that I own . It refers to a release from prison of a secessionist who took the Oath of Allegiance to the United States .

Whoever "GWU" was (I never saw these initials before and have no idea who is was) wasn't bashful about writing rather heavily on the gum - which is harmless if he was correct. Not so much if he wasn't.......(but I agree that both are fake).

Since I am just learning about identifying fake coils I wonder if you could explain what you see to make these fakes? My guess is the 391 is made from a 384 Imp and was re-perforated. I don't see any fibers in the perfs and they look a bit round. The 444 appears to be made from a 409 Imp and has the same characteristics as the above as well. While it could be a 425e booklet pane (need to see watermark direction)that has been trimmed or trimmed 405? The top edge on the 444 looks a bit off? Can't really tell if height/width falls within the "good" range without a measurement.

What do the experts see?? I really need to improve my IDing skills on these coils as my Fake page is growing!

Most unused fake perf 12 coils were made from imperforate coils or strips cut, usually not carefully enough, from imperforate sheets. Most perf 12 and perf 10 used examples are trimmed sheet stamps.
