I must be color blind as I can figure out the colors of these stamps. My guess is
: 2 cent cancelled is pink ?
2 cent uncancelled stamp is carmine ?
the other 2 stamps are: lake and rose ?

These are my guesses, and would like some feedback from the experts.

Apparently my scanner is also color blind since the scans ain't that great.

ALSO can you tell me if the cancelled stamps are considered pre cancelled and thus unused ?

Regards,

Mike L.

You can't make much of a determination as to color based on scans, as different scanners and monitors can often reproduce the colors differently. Having said that, I can tell you that none of the examples shown would appear to be the "lake" color, as that would be considerably different from the shades of the stamps shown.

As to you last question: None of the stamps are precancels. The cancelled stamps show common "killer" postmarks that were typical for that day.

Incidentally, tightening up your scans without so much space between the examples would help a lot:

The 3 used examples have passed through canceling machines.
