As some of you already know, I am just here in the US for my Graduate Studies and will be back in the Philippines 2 months from now. This forum has helped me realize the joys of collecting stamps again and other threads as well has encouraged me to participate in local stamp clubs and other activities.
Thus, I was contemplating the idea of initiating a local stamp club for kids in my neighborhood. Stamp collecting is not yet a big thing in my country as compared to the US or Canada and this will be quite a challenge.
My plan is to first introduce the hobby to kids in my circle of friends then eventually hope that this would spread to their acquaintances (to those who could want to join). I intend to give away my duplicate stamps (maybe in sets of 50 or 100) to each kid who will join just to get them interested in the hobby.
My problem is that I might not have enough duplicates to give away so if anyone is interested to help in helping me accumulate stamps for the kids (any stamps will do...the intention is just to get kids interested), please send me an email so I can give you my address.
I hope this endeavir will spark an interest in stamp collecting in my country. Thank you very much.
It is always nice to have friends to learn, trade, and collect with nearby. John you have done a great thing sharing your stamp collecting interests with others. Sometimes it is difficult to open up and share with others that may or may not be interested. Keep up the good work.
