Lots to talk about with this one. The auction started at $0.01 and free delivery (very nice). Scott catalogue value $225 each (according to the auction - my Scott is a little old). UPSS catalog is a little more up-to-date with $150.

I've watched single envelopes of this variety on ebay go for much less than $100. Often in the $30 range. What should the buyer of this lot expect to get if they expect to turn around and sell these one by one?

Im sure they will be wholesaled....just like this lot.

Think someone ordered a box of 500, and got this surprise. Be interesting to hear the backstory.
Wonder how long for the market to adjust. I think it will be a slow drip, drip, drip on ebay as new people come In thinking they sniped it at $40-$50

Supply and Demand:
Present score - supply many, many hundreds - demand pretty small.
not the stamped envelopes but some other errors I secured maybe 15+ years ago. was quite happy to sell rather quickly a few dozen at realistically high prices; then a few dribbled out over several years at slowly declining market prices; then just a very few one by one in the last couple of years at the current, much lower, price.
Not disappointed or discouraged in the least but have crazy daydreams about torching 90% of what I still have to keep the supply small enough to maintain at least some demand.

The sale of this lot may eventually affect the price of all of the other lots of single U646a covers on ebay, if the new buyer decides to sell them off on there too.

Kevin504, Are you proposing these 225 envelopes will remain in the wholesale market? Don't they eventually have to get bought by collectors?

Given the quantity, wholesale figured at $5 each for the entire lot is questionable. This amount now known to exist should depress the market value to about $20 each.

Currently there are 9 ebay "auctions" with these U646a's.

Only one is an actual auction. $91.20 and zero bids.

The B.I.N/B.O. "auctions" range from $59.50 to $250.

One of the Best Offer lots states there are "5 available".

It will be interesting to see the price of the next U646a sold.

The bulk lot of U646a's sold for $6.56 per envelope.

The one other auction ended with no bidders (min. bid $91.20).
