Hi guys..When did the USPS stop using the numeral cancels on their stamps..Here is 2 from 1948.

Those are from duplex hand stamps. There is no "stop using by date" to my knowledge. The hand stamp cancels seem to have been replaced with the horizontal parallel bars probably as the numeral barred ellipse units wore out.

The cancels you show are from duplex hammers used at thousands of post offices in the United States. I have no idea when they stopped using them , but suspect there are some offices in the U. S. that have them and use them if they ever handcancel a piece of mail.
