From the looks of the layout on the back, I would have to say that it probably dates from around 1900 or so, give or take 10 years either way. |

What does the back say? It might tell you if you translate it. If you post it here, I'll give it a shot with some online translators that have helped me. If you want to go religious theme, I would say Confirmation, because of the dove. But would a Confirmation card be printed in the form of a post card? Value? I have sold cards through ebay auctions and let the current market for them determine their value. |

Top left says; This Space For Writing Messages. Stamp square says; Place Stamp Here Domestic One Cent Foreign Two Cents. Left side says; Printed In Germany. What about the front being made out of something fuzzy? Is that rare? John1 |

OK, so it isn't really a German card but an American card manufactured in Germany.
Rather misleading to place it here rather than the U.S. Picture Postcard forum then offer sarcasm in response to an offer to help.
Don't know anything about fuzzy.

Quote: OK, so it isn't really a German card but an American card manufactured in Germany.
Previous to World War I, Germany was the main manufacturing source for post cards around the world. They had the better printing methods for the colourful cards people wanted to buy. If you check such pre-WWI post cards from Canada, the United States, Great Britain, etc., you may notice some printed in Germany. Much the same as to-day... I purchased an "I LOVE NY" t-shirt in New York State, but it was made in China. David |

I'm probably way off base here, but the front of the card looks like flower petals. Could petals be treated somehow to stand up that well for such a long time? |

I offered to help you translate a German card. To reply Quote: Top left says; This Space For Writing Messages. Stamp square says; Place Stamp Here Domestic One Cent Foreign Two Cents. Left side says; Printed In Germany. rather than simply saying the card is in English and doesn't need translation is a sarcastic reply. Then answering Quote: So thanks to "most" of you for your help. is sarcastic as well. |

Hi John1, I figured real flowers was a long shot, but you never know! Sounds like it might be some type of embroidery. Whatever it is, I think it's attractive. Thanks for posting it. |

Hi John, just saw the pic of your nice card, it looks like it's fully embossed, upraised paper, it's about 1963 thereabouts. During that time embossed paper was a great novelty and almost any thing made out of paper for art was embossed! Ahhh, that was also the time of the white twirled paper straw for softdrinks... |
