Dave, in your op, you asked what the viewer saw, and I said that I saw an u nderinked O99, the six cent Soft paper Interior. My photo shows the 3 cent Agriculture, on three different papers, Hard O3, Intermediate O3, and Soft O95. I used these paticular stamps because of their distintive cancels, so they could be identified when back lit to show paper types. There are actually four paper types but I have as yet not discovered a technique of displaying a ribbed paper in a group photo like this one.  |

Here's another identification test. These are three different printings of the State Department 1 cent, each showing an identifing trait. First, Second and Third printings, can you tell them apart from this scan? It is possible, if you have a Scott Specialized.  |

littleriverphil, Official Specimens is an area I've never ventured into!
So for your identification test, I used my edition of the Scott Specialized Catalog or as I think of it as the Scott Guide.
OK, I failed your identification test for the State Department 1 Cent each showing an identifying trait. Please teach me how to tell the difference.
