Quite the stamp. I, too, have never seen one like this one. All "real"inverted Jenny's go for a lot of money. This is a facsimile/cinderella, however, and I like it. Now for the rest of the story behind this "local post?" |

Quote: duncanvr...I really don't think it is worth the money to send it away to get expertised...But a good keeper... Agreed ... not worth an expertization. This is some sort of Cinderella with a fake (or accidental?) cancellation. I am certain someone here will recognize it if they are prompted to do so. Perhaps a title change would help - something like "Inverted Jenny cinderella? Opinions sought"? Great item - I would love to find one and add to my cinderella collection! Brian |

The fact that it says 'Local Post' eliminates it as a true inverted Jenny. I wouldn't be surprised if it was printed by a stamp club for a show souvenir of some sort. |

As dogdfg mentioned, possibly trimmed from something like this. Of course that is only a guess. Must have been limited to very "local post" if the experts here havent seen it. |

I got one of those too !! My inverted Jenny is worth more because not only the plane is inverted but the frame is also inverted too. Does that make it worth twice the price? |

[quote]As dogdfg mentioned, possibly trimmed from something like this[/quote I am thinking it is not from some thing like you and dogdfg mentioned..The back is a bright white colour like the circled area as shown below..If it were from a post card or presentation piece, you would think they would age the same and be almost the same colour..just a logical thought..But I have never heard of "local post" before..?? |

I have never seen this item before, but I would not define it as a "fake" as much as I would a "Cinderella". It was done for fun, not to defraud anybody IMO. Now the Peter Winter fake is well-executed and highly collectible, usually selling in the $300/500. range last I saw one (which has been some years, so it may be more or less now). |

It might be cut from a Houpex 76 cover. I think they had a version that said "local post", but I cant find an image. Maybe not of course, since yours is more aged than one might expect. Here is a version that is close. |
