Self adhesive. How do you mount mint examples in an album?

I use Showgard or Scott mounts for the mint stamp on its original backing, no hinges. However, most of my self-adhesives are in stock pages.

Do you cut the backing along the perfs. That just doesn't seem right to me. maybe there is no other way.

If I can, I leave a 1 mm margin around the stamp. I can do this easily with booklet stamps. I remove all the adjoining stamps (for postage), then trim. With commemoratives, that usually is not an option because the backing paper is rouletted, and the stamps have already been separated when I purchase them. Buying full panes of 20 to get a neatly trimmed example is not worth it to me.

ronv.

I use my Showgard Cutter to trim the backing; and then mount using (what else?) Showgard Mounts, No, this is not a Showgard commercial - its just what works for me.

On a more serious note I use the Mystic mounts for my self adhesive stamps and have had no trouble removing them from the mount which is mounted in the stampbook. Please explain to me the advantage of saving it with the self adhesive attached.Perhap sone of you could show an example.

I believe the catalog says that a mint, self adhesive stamp is valued attached to it's original backing. That is to prevent someone form removing a used, uncanceled stamp and claiming it as mint unused.

When I pass away my collection of stamps, vinyl, CD's, and photo equipment will all end up in the trash so I really don't care. What can never be taken away from me are the hours of enjoyment all of these things have given me.

USPS mint self-adhesive sheets have a perforated backing that you can tear along. For non-perforated backings, I usually fold along the die-cut so the stamps are back to back and cut down the backing paper with an X-Acto Knife.
