This showed up in an auction lot picked up at stamp club. My guess is China Revenue. Does anybody know what this is and have any particulars?

You are soooo right. And I was being so careful to get it right because I noted from the hinge remnant on the back that it had been previously mounted upside down.

I'm looking at the "characters (letters)" they do not look Chinesse or Japanese, plus the "flower" is wrong.

I know zilch about Japanese stamps, but seems like I read once that the square is a easy way to identify Japanese stamps. There was also something about whether the lines inside the square touch the sides?

Do any of you have a clue what I'm talking about? Do I?

I think it says:

Top: "Eat at Chang's"
Bottom: "Take out available."

I have absolutely no idea so I'm just wasting a post.

Kirk....

I do........that and the central design is what made me think Japan.....still hunting.

John......

Definitely not genius....after 50 years I'd bet that I've forgotten more than I still remember..........besides, you know everyone always hates the one that tries to give the impression that they know-it-all or that they are never wrong.
