This showed up in an auction lot picked up at stamp club. My guess is China Revenue. Does anybody know what this is and have any particulars?  |

You are soooo right. And I was being so careful to get it right because I noted from the hinge remnant on the back that it had been previously mounted upside down. |

Not absolutely sure this is Japanese....still looking.

I'm looking at the "characters (letters)" they do not look Chinesse or Japanese, plus the "flower" is wrong. |

I know zilch about Japanese stamps, but seems like I read once that the square is a easy way to identify Japanese stamps. There was also something about whether the lines inside the square touch the sides? Do any of you have a clue what I'm talking about? Do I?   |

I think it says:
Top: "Eat at Chang's"
Bottom: "Take out available."
I have absolutely no idea so I'm just wasting a post. |

I do........that and the central design is what made me think Japan.....still hunting.

Definitely not genius....after 50 years I'd bet that I've forgotten more than I still remember..........besides, you know everyone always hates the one that tries to give the impression that they know-it-all or that they are never wrong. |

This is a Chinese revenue stamp of the Qing Dynasty.Printing by Japan or USA.That is all what I know.  |
