I have found my favorite stamp so far! In a big lot from ebay, I came across a beautiful heart-shaped stamp from France. It's part of a series of designers stamps, such as Givenchy, Chanel, Christian LaCroix, and so on. I have a thing for designer purses, so I would have bought these stamps even before I started collectng.Designers and hearts, perfect collection for me! Its not going to be a designer collection, necessarily though, but anything with hearts. I have some of the "LOVE" stamps that are US, with hearts, so I can also start with them to my collection. Here a pic I found,(camera's battery is dead) but its punched out already, its a complete heart shape, just the heart, no surround.I will take a pic of mine when my batteries charge up. You can't tell how pretty it is from this pic. Image: 3862.gif13.64 KB This series of stamps were first released and have been every year since for Valentines day in 2000. Found this on the internet: http://www.squidoo.com/designerstampsI couldn't find much about them googling them and hardly any on ebay. I would "love" (haha) to have all of these, if anyone comes across them for sale, let me know. I am looking at a Tonga stamp that is heart-shaped and georgous on ebay from 1964. I love it,but I think I can get it cheaper than what they are listing(7.00 including shipping). So I'll wait a bit and look around some for more of that one. Here's the listing of it: http://cgi.ebay.com/Tonga-Heart-Sha...64_W0QQitemZ400022452357QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item 400022452357&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116

I collect Cardiology on Stamps. Cardiology is the study of diseases and disorders of the heart. That's the blood-filled pump in your chest, type of heart.

That's the good thing about stamp collecting. You can collect what ever your heart desires. Quote: That's the blood-filled pump in your chest, type of heart.
What's the other type?? Steve |

Trigger:
Aside from the anatomical heart, there is the religious heart (as in the sacred heart of Jesus), the heart in art , and the lover's heart. All of which are portrayed on stamps.

Wow, I never realized there would be enough stamps about cardiology to collect. But I guess with 160 odd years of stamp issues, there's probably enough of anything, lol! That sounds very interesting. I would love to see some. My father has had multiple heart attacks,so we are very familiar with his cardiologist. He's had several stints and open heart surgery. My Grandmother also, his mom, so I may wind up really interested in it also, God forbid. Can you post some of your stamps?
Steve, the other type of heart is the romantic kind! The , I love you, happy valentines, my heart is yours, heart to heart, symbolic type of heart. And of course what David said kind of hearts. I heart hearts! |

Stefani, There is a love stamp from the US that is heart shaped at the top and the bottom is an envelope. It looks like a Valentine Card sticking out of its envelope. That may fit in your collection. Try these US Scott #'s 2618, 3274,3275,3833 to start you out. |

I purchased, last month, the American Topical Association's Handbook "Perforated Hearts", by Dr. Ben Termini. The handbook details all the different heart stamps.
It pays to be an ATA member!

Stef:
Yes... it's a new book available from the American Topical Association. Go to their website. I think I paid twenty American dollars for the handbook and shipping to Canada.

Thanks, David! I am thinking of joining the ATS. I am going to join the APS, so I am not sure if I should do both. |
