...I find it hard to identify this spacefiller, with the margins this close. Anyone?



I am also thinking the impression is rather coarse. Did the plates get worn over time - or is this simply a fake?

Your stamp is almost certainly a trimmed-down (perforated) Type V, Scott #35. Even with the tight margins, some of the required design elements for Types I-IV should be visible. The issues with the impression may be related to the apparent cleaning/lightening of the pen cancel.

I agree with Sinclair. I dug up an old image I made years ago of a trimmed #35 that someone tried to pass off as an imperforate on ebay. It's pretty small, but I hope it clarifies:
