I am just starting out on Plating and if anyone would be willing to let me know if I am right or wrong on this one, I'd greatly appreciate it. I do not own this stamp. The photo is from ebay. It is being offered up on ebay as a #20, Type II.

However, I think it is a Type III/IIIA, position 51L4. The relief does not seem to be complete enough to qualify for the T, A, B reliefs of the first 3 plates. No dot in the left oval rules out plates 11, 12. Side ornaments are complete, ruling out Type V/VA and plates 5-10.

That leaves plate 4. I think this looks like relief F with an erasure on the bottom, making it 6th row. The large color smudge in the upper center and absence of dots on the shoulder looks like 51L4.

In a separate question, is the horizontal plate flaw under the you unique to Plate 4 Relief F?

Thanks again!

Pretty good. I didn't confirm the actual position though. I agree that it is a sixth row stamp. The F relief flaw is unique to Plate 4 and can be found on all 40 F relief positions.
