Could anyone give me any information on this stamp holder.
About the size of silver dollar. Hinged on front at top. Can open by pressing down with thumbnail. I can't find anything by googling. Is there a special name for this type of antique?
Am interested in knowing approx value. Thanks. w.s.
( by the way, the reason I bought it about 30 years ago is because of my initials.)

))trying to update photos, stamp is wrong year but closest I have.

hope it works

Hi Sunseeker,
You have a very nice stamp box. I have no info as yet but will keep trying.
A stamp holder [as opposed to stamp box] is for coils and can also be very ornate and beautiful.
Some stamp boxes dating back to Victorian times can be very prized and valuable possessions.

There is a dealer whom attends the St Louis Stamp Expo that carries stamp boxes. Some are sterling silver and very intricate designs. I would love to have an engraved stamp box for my desk at home.

My grandmother has a small stamp wallet with places for different denominations. I think it is leather, but I haven't seen it in years.

Thanks for responses, Today I used a better camera to get great pics and have them to send via email for anyone to get a better look. Appears to be a 1890's 2 cent stamp? with artistic interpretation and they also fit well. w.s.
