I found a decent online photo editor that is free and can do the SRAIL test for checking coils.

https://pixlr.com/editor/

1. add your stamp photo
2. add "duplicate layer"
3. modify translucency
4. use "marquee tool" to select a side
5. select "Free transform" to move or flip the selection

It worked pretty easily and quickly for me. Hope that helps anyone who, like me, is too cheap to buy photoshop.

Thanks, this will come in handy. I use Paint .NET 99% of the time: http://www.getpaint.net/index.html

Another great free program is GIMP. I rarely need it and it is more powerful, but has a much steeper learning curve: http://www.gimp.org/

I have been using GIMP (free download) for years and it does the trick.
