Despite the limited Scott listings (3) #182 comes in a fair range of shades from pale to deep. As for the Special Printings, for any stamp, you are well advised to stop looking for one among used stamps. These were sold to collectors by special order only and without gum. After all that trouble, anyone who put one on a cover to get a cancel certainly would not remove it.

Yet, I know, hope springs eternal - never say die - and all that.

The following has examples of shades of 182.

Your middle stamp has fresher color than typical, but is otherwise unremarkable, and has only Good to Average centering. For those who value color and light cancels over centering, it's attractive.

cjpalermo1964: I don't currently collect US but the site you cite is fascinating. I looked for an About link but didn't find anything. Can you expound on who runs the site and their purpose?

Thanks,
Terry

The link CJ supplied is very good for the nicest examples of the stamp; those which sell at auction houses. For typical used examples selling prices use ebay search (click on 'Sold' examples)

These are all examples of #182 (including the second one from the left, top row) selected for color only. I was too lazy to take them out of their mounts, but I think you get the idea.
