Do you have the full series for the Columbians? 1 cent through the $5 dollar stamp. If so you have some nice value. |

No but you would be able to take a nice vacation. The last three in that series used would bring in about a few thousand dollars. |

The 2 long Japanese items I see are not "normal" postage stamps. They are either stamped wrappers/envelopes or revenue receipts. The print is too faded for me to tell.
A quick glance at the items you scanned show mostly common items, some with a slight premium. For instance, the US 5c Columbian catalogs for $8 in my 2008 Scott catalog.
While you have a nice assortment of stamps, to be honest, they are not in very good condition. Most of the stamps I see have foxxing along the edges or are toned, due to previous improper storage. As I mentioned earlier, condition is everything. Even thought the stamps have no tears or other obvious damage, the significant paper discoloration reduces it to space filler status (i.e., <5% of catalog value).
I always encourage people to collect for the sake of enjoyment, instead of monetary value. From that perspective, you definitely have a nice starter collection of classic era stamps! It's the type of collection I enjoy thumbing through!
Thanks for sharing the photos. See if you can thumb through a Scott or Stanley Gibbons catalog and you will learn more about your stamps -- learning from the catalogs is part of the fun of stamp collecting. Then, if you have difficulty IDing one of them or have a specific question on one of them, I certainly would be more than happy to help. |

Sadly, it appears that a lot of the stamps are toned. They must have been damp at some time in there lives because even the album pages have got it Most are only spacefillers at first glance. Still, some nice stuff for sorting and studying. Londonbus1 |

OK, I now see some new and better pics of the large Japanese items you have posted. Sorry I missed it earlier.
They are definitely Japanese postal stationary. These items are not listed in the standard catalogs. They will be listed in Higgins and Gage's World Stationary Catalog, volume 10. Unfortunately, I do not have that catalog.
Based on the age/group of your collection, there's actually a very good chance that you might have a penny black in there. It's not unusual for me to find penny blacks in collections of this type. Look in the Great Britain section and see if you can find a black Queen Victoria, like those penny reds that you showed. If you find a black Queen Victoria with no perforations and the proper crown watermark, then you have found a penny black! |

This an interesting stamp. Even though it's in poor condition, it has a nice purple fancy cancel. While the cancel itself is only a modest premium, this particular cancel is very clean and very well-centered. |
