@Joe Okay, it looks like perf. 12 though. Guess I'd have to see it in person....
Even if it's perf. 11, I wouldn't waste money sending it to the experts. The toga rope is broken, which is the defining feature of type 1's. Definitely not a type 1a. Although, if you choose to send it in, good luck! |

Yes, Joe... it's a 499... Please view this stamp, which is one of my 500's... In this example, I over-saturated the exposure to emphasize detail... |

@disi123, beautiful stamp!
Also @disi and @Joe, I apologize, I see now that @Joe's stamp is perf. 11. Sorry about that, I guess I'm still learning how to tell perf. numbers without viewing the stamp in person. |

Thank you disi123 for that, I usually go hunting for stamps in antique shops and barn sales usually on post cards came across this one on a post card, color looked very different so I purchased it for 50 cents. I usually look at the 2 cents stamps on post cards never know what you will find.
I love this hobby (Collector since I was 8 years old), all ways learning. |

@disi You're welcome. Just curious, does it have a graded cert? I would grade it at least XF 90, although it's on the brink of being XF-Sup 95.... |

Themachine...
I do not have a cert on the stamp, nor plan on getting one... I don't see any reason to, plus I'm not much of a grading fan... I've observed a number of collecting venues destroyed by grading... I choose not to participate...
When it comes to certing, in general, I have a number of certs on some of my collection (this 500 excluded as I don't deem one necessary in this case)... |

Disi, that is a beautiful 500. I am, envious as my 500 is not nearly as nice appearing. |
