Blazenstar, that Swedish "stamp" is not a stamp but a Christmas seal. There are people that collect these. I have no earthly idea if an imperforate Christmas seal is valuable or not.

More accurately its a charity seal for TB. Not necessarily associated with Christmas. |

Regardless of whether you like the dealer as a person or whether you sense he has knowledge or not (which Don covered the 2 options nicely!) - you should have aspirations for better stamps than the 4 cent Trans-Miss shown in the original post. |

John: There is nothing wrong with collecting basic stamps...When I purchase a stamp it for not just for myself all the time. It is for others as well to learn from them too. Myself placing that specific Trans stamp, I am sure helped someone else who enjoys reading the forum with the information provided and maybe shy to ask a question. On a personal note, my Royal Family of Europe have many of the original stamps passed down in our family stamp albums for generations, so thank you for your sweet comment of encouragement because I know you had no idea of my background. I am inspired even with a changling stamp when has so limited value because if it may have help someone to learn something new with stamps. I am not one that always needs the most expensive stamps, but it so much fun to go treasure hunting with friends. We challenge each other which stamp we can find and donate to other children for them to start their stamp books. We don't make stamp collecting only for ourselves. Myself, I would read comments placed on the forum in past, and never write a word at all. Just remember, many people do enjoy reading this stamp community forum.
Thank you Peter for the information as always..smiles |

John, thanks much for your guidance not to buy inferior stamps. It's a lesson which took me awhile to learn, but thankfully I have discovered that for me, it is the number 1 rule when purchasing.

I did not misconstrued..someone else read your comment." You should have inspirations of better stamps than the Trans- Mississippi.".. This is the response. " Well excuseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee meeeeeeee that this did not suit your own preferences of a choice for her to purchase it." hahahaha |

i went through etiquette learning like other Royals. I am fully aware about manners. My friend was the one responding to the comment. I do not treat others disrespectfully....and it is not funny for someone to act like he is superior than another and makes rude comments towards a stranger. I donot act that manner with others.I also provide many mint stamps to individuals without asking anything in return//donate to charitable ways... It is not about me when I place a stamp for a question, but apparently I am not the only one that saw how another made the response. Ty for your statement.. |

I don't think it is enough to say this is a changeling. The brown tone is no longer uniform and the orange original color is irregular. To me this looks like a botched attempt to use hydrogen peroxide in a sweatbox to remove the brown tone (which is NOT "foxing" BTW). The brown is the result of hydrogen sulfide in the air interacting with metals (usually ferrous) in the ink used to print the stamp. Suggestion: sacrifice the gum, which serves no positive purpose anymore, and try to get the restoration to look more uniform by a carefully monitored dilute H2O2 soaking session. But it will never again look fresh, and does not now (if the scan is any indication). |

I see no rude comments - only guidance. And please stop with the royal stuff. We are all collectors here who care not one whit about status. |
