Kingstonstamper, is there a question here? The picture, by the way is very poor and it is hard to tell anything!

Hi Petert4522.The question is on the Measurement. When I looked it up in the book and on the 1847 sight. I could not find it in the coil stamps. And I am sorry about the picture . Im trying to work it out on my scanner.

It looks like it may be trimmed at the top (w/bottom straight edge??).. so not a genuine coil??

On my monitor I see some red on the right side of the stamp. Looks like the stamp has some paper attached to the back. We really need a better picture, preferably a scan of both front and back!

Looks like a fake to me. Trimmed at the top and the left perforation looks funky. Poor fake job.

Here are the perf 10 coils on 1847usa...

http://www.stampsmarter.com/1847usa...1p10coil.htm

That thing has been re-perfed on the left side and ripped off somehow at the top. A scan of this stamp would be very interesting to see.

I'll go with that. 490 or 452. It still looks funky to me.

I checked that sight for this stamp .(I Break For Stamps.) It had the perfs 10 but not the Measurement. That is why I'm having such a hard time determining what stamp this is.. I re-posted a much better picture with more findings.

Kingstonstamper,
It looks like a "wide" rotary coil to me. The 19.5mm width is the important part. It measuring at 22.25mm height is insignificant. Listed dimensions aren't exact. What is important is that a horizontal printing needs to be 19.5mm or wider. Vertical printings need to be 22.5mm or taller.

Some flat plate printings also measure as large as the rotary minimums. In such a situation, look for fine line detail and an absence of ink offset on the obverse. The scan of it in your other thread shows that has the line detail of a rotary printing.

Measuring to the needed level of accuracy is difficult. Utilizing a template is a nearly foolproof method: https://www.stampcommunity.org/topi...40718#349013
