Hello,
I am new to Stamp collecting and just got my hands on this nice stamp. Was wondering if anyone could help me with the value of it and rate the condition. It appears to be unused. As it does not have any postal marks. Also I believe it is from 1873. I do see on a few different websites selling for anywhere from $150.00 to $1500.00

Any help would be great!
Thanks for your time.

If its genuine it does have some value but if you are new to collecting I would recomend you start with stamps of lesser value. Small things on valuable stamps can really effect the value and that one does have some perf problems.

The gum must be that "special gum".....invisible.

Nice stamp though.

No gum appears evident on the scan; a hinge remnant yes, but no gum.

Regards,

So, what we are left with: centering "good"; irregular angled top perfs that detract from appearance; numerous short bottom perfs; hinge mark and hinge remnant; likely used, as I can see a light possibly cleaned cancel in the forehead/hair region; fresh color. I would value it at $30 to $50 retail based on market reports; a dealer would pay less.

Others may disagree. The main valuing problem is that there are plenty of these on the market with no perf problems and F or VF centering. Perfectly fine as a space-filler in an album of course.

Edited for typo
