There is an interesting and timely article in this month's Scott Stamp Monthly. It is titled "Stamps Reveal History of Somalia, from Riches to Piracy and Plunder."

As any student of history knows, the recent rash of attacks by Somalian pirates is certainly not the first.

that is interesting...stamps usually try not to depict the bad things about a country....there is nothing to be proud of about "piracy and plunder"

I am going to have to suscribe to it. I can't find it anywhere on the shelf around here. We used to have a "newspaper stand" ran by an old man that had been there for more than 50 years and when Wal-mart came in, he went out of business. He sold everything, I'm sure he would have had some. And of course, Walmart has 3-4 coin magazines and no stamp magazines!

I think I will suscribe to the digital edition.

Ok, I just did it!

I read in a travel magazine a few months ago about the problem of piracy in these waters. My husband and I have been looking into a cruise and since all this, it puts me off. Even though, they usually only target merchant ships, still scary.

Off to read the article.

I'm sure you'll get your money's worth. I subscribe to the print edition of both Scott's Stamp Monthly and Linn's. When my subscriptions expire, I'll go with the digital editions.

By the way, as a subscriber, you get a discount from Amos Advantage. I'm not sure how their prices compare to other places that sell supplies, but a discount it might be worth looking at their website.

Kirk - The discount at Amos is sufficient enough to pay for the subscription if you buy a fair amount of mounts, etc. each year.

Good point, laswabbie.

I do purchase from Amos, but I wasn't sure how they would compare with other places like Subway, Global, iHobb, etc.

It might be fun to do a little comparison shopping, but that would take time
