I once collected stamps during junior middle school years. I grew up in China and collecting stamps helped me to know more about European and US history than what the textbook taught Chinese students in early 1990s. (fastforward... high school, college, hobby stopped.)

I have been working and living in Hong Kong since 2004. It was only in March this year (2015), out of no reason suddenly I revigorated my interest in stamp collection. Topics range across: historical events, flags, heads of state, political events, Japanese themes, Pacific islands & Captain Cook, historical post cards of China (Qing, Republic of China) and Japan (particularly Japan-Russo war). I also collect deep sea creatures just because that's a topic my son has very deep interest in (hope I can cultivate his interest some day).

The stamp collection market and dealership in Hong Kong is just so-so, but I've found online sources very helpful (eBay, quite a number of postal issuance authorities sell new issuance online and deliver internationally).

I have interest in learning generally about philately, even in areas that are outside my focus topics above. Having subsribed to 2 philatelic magazines. In August, I travelled to Singapore to watch the world stamp exhibition. That's quite an exciting experience for me, as this is the first stamp show I attended, and it's been nearly 20 years since I last collected stamps in junior school! I hope can learn more and to enjoy reading the posts on this great website!
