I soaked it off a paper piece. No ... it did not transfer from the envelope. What would you call this black line on back?

I'm sorry I don't know.

Are these stamps uncanceled?

They were on a fragment of paper, with cancellation nearby. The paper is discarded, but the items were all from documents cancelled in the correct time periods. I looked under high magnification, and cannot see any visible cancellation mark on either stamp. I played with color balancing software, and nothing jumped out at me. Sorry.

Are you sure the line is black, and not dark blue? If it is dark blue, it likely occurred during the printing process. The back of the sheet may have come in contact with ink on the edge of the printing plate.

Definitely dark blue, so probably from a transfer of ink from some source ... most likely the edge of the printing press. I had just not seen such a clean line before. Thanks for the input.
