There are a few possibilities here. Have you checked the watermark yet?

Robert,

Somebody wants you to think you have a 499f. I certainly hope you do. More likely though, it is a 499 that someone trimmed at the top.

jkelley01938...I cant prove it is cut or not..The only way I can see if (maybe) it has been cut is to measure the inside of perfs to the top of the stamp...My thinking is if the measurement is exactly the same what are the chances that some one paralleled the top to match the inside of the perfs..??

Both measurements are exactly 402 px...Am I making any sense..?

Robert

I placed wert's stamp on top of a certified 499 in my imaging program. The vertical dimension is a good match and one can easily imagine someone slicing off the top perfs. However, the width of the two stamps doesn't match. How standardized can one expect the perf machines to be at this time?

Not only that KGB, I found 3 or 4 more, so chances of them being a 499f is probably slim to none.

KGB,

There are other possibilities but in all likelihood is a 499 based upon color and type (1).

Jim, nothing looks out of the ordinary with yours. There are a bunch of offset printed stamps though.
