Was browsing through some old stockbook lots and pulled a few items that piqued my curiosity. Could use some help with identification and/or valuation.

#1. Presumbably a modern facsimile of US #2. The appearance is all wrong. The paper is too white and the stamp is gummed (see second image).

#2. Advertising label/cinderella?

#3. The appearance and surface textures looks "wrong" for lack of a better word. Counterfeit? But why?

#4. Envelope cutout of some sort?

#5-7. Precancels, but early than those I usually see. Anything of note?

Images are 1200dpi, so if you click on them you'll get more detail.

1) Yup, fake but meant to fool collectors. I can't recall but I have seen this one before, it might be in Brookman.

2) Test Stamp, SC# TD27 issued 1909-1910.

3) Contemporary counterfeit meant to be used postally, not listed in Scott.

4) Yup.

5-7) Yup and I know zip about precancels but I am told early (IE 1st bureaus) can be worth a few bucks.

In case you were wondering about the "Simplex Stamp Affixer" noted on the cinderella (Item #2) here's a period ad for the product, dating to 1910:

Thanks for the replies thus far. It's a shame the BURLINGTON, VT precancel isn't in nicer condition.

Love that ad! "Live men only need apply." We're they getting a lot of dead men applying to be manufacturers reps?

How many knew that it was because of the Simplex Postage Stamp Affixer that resulted in special stamps being issued for use in that particular device?

Jim - I would never put a stamp on ebay with a BIN. Why limit the upside?
Rev - the other 2 precancels are Painesville OH L-1 HS and Chicago IL L-2 TS var 1.
In the new PSS Classics catalog Painesville is 4.00 USD, and the Chicago is 7.50.

Auctions are dangerous nowdays, long as I make a little I'm happy to get to buy some more stamps. To me its way more important that its something else I learned and now know what to look for.
