This stamp was sold as an 11A, so I assume it is. But I have been unable to plate it. Maybe it's OB and I just can't recognize it. I keep coming back to it but to no avail. It seems like it would be an easy one with the position dot and the left inner and outer lines almost touching. Frustrated with this one.

Anyone want to take a stab at it? Ideas on the blue cancel? Looks like AUG 10 but I can't determine city.

Achilles,

Your stamp almost certainly is an 11A, probably from plate 1L.

When asking for plating, higher resolution scans are very helpful; 800 DPI or better preferably. It also helps if you can align the side frame lines as close to vertical as possible. I can realign it in an image editor, but it reduces resolution further.

Good eye, Tom! I think that's a match.

Merry Christmas, all!

Thanks guys I agree with that position.

CC, Thanks for the tips, I'll heed your advice. I think I'm losing clarity as I reduce the file size for posting. I'm sure I'm not doing something correct.

Tom, Thanks for your time and the position number. I need to take better notes as I progress through my plating steps. I was sure I checked Plate 1L--obviously overlooked that position.

Here's an image I have on my desk top. It shows the general location of the guide dots. Helps narrow the search some...sometimes.

That's a good tip Stampcrow. I actually took that a step or two further when I began plating these. I made a copy of that diagram for each plate. Then I marked each with many of the position nuances noted in the Chase book; cracks, misplaced reliefs, extra lines, misplaced position dots, etc. I now have notes all over those pages. I also mark the positions on that diagram with an X once I have a stamp for it--a checklist of sorts.
