Fairey, the scan is not very clear as far as the perfs go. Can you see the blind perfs, or are they totally missing?
As far as the "double frame line" goes, I believe that it is the line in the center of the sheet. But I may be way off on that one!

Peter

This is a Scott #26. This stamp was printed from plates of 200 impressions. The center line that Peter mentioned probably served as a guide line for cutting the printed sheet into two panes of 100. The edge with the center line was never perforated as far as I know, so the sparse perforations on the center line of this stamp were added later.

1857's with a perforated centerline are actually pretty common. That doesn't mean that I think the perforations on this stamp are genuine. I don't think they are.

What intrigued me was the fact that the stamp is clearly cut on both sides and on the pane margin (L) side well into the adjoining stamp. Also there is quite a wide margin on the right for this stamp where there is usually not much separation and many close perforations.

I wonder if it was a botched vertical perforation on the sheet and the stamps were separated at the Post Office by scissors. The postmark of Tolland Ct is contemporary and the stamp is not otherwise valuable so don't think it is likely to have had a private re-perforation.
