Interesting. Maybe a Jan 19th release on the pluto stamps?

The Views of Our Planets stamps are very nice.

It's funny the timing of this announcement with the Shirley Temple stamp. I was just reading a thread on here where people were discussing the waiting period post-death and how it has changed.

The Star Trek designs are rather disappointing. The Madonna is lovely, a wonderful choice. The trucks are great! I'd give the USPS a B-.

Regarding Shirley Temple, I suspect she was more proud of her accomplishments as a diplomat than her acting career.

Ugh. Those Star Trek designs are lame. They could have been SOOOOOOO much better. Stampshow designs are BORING. I like the moon global Forever stamps, but would have been cooler had the surface of the moon been rotated slightly with each successive stamp, thus resulting in a 360-degree view across the entire sheet.

The symbolic nature of the Star Trek stamps suggests that there were significant issues, costs or risks associated with depicting actors or characters from the show on the stamps, or perhaps those rights were not available at all. In contrast, the Star Wars franchise appears to have pre-negotiated the rights, since Royal Mail was able to depict all the principal actors on its October 2015 set of special stamps. If so, the USPS could have done better with a single stamp depicting the Enterprise. This set of 4 generic-symbolic stamps feels like an effort to extract $1.96 from the hand of every Star Trek fan, rather than just $0.49.

I didn't dig deep enough into the page to know there were images until I saw the complaints on here about the Star Trek designs. After finding them, to me, as I am no expert, it looks like a possible 1960's style inspired artworks based on the show. I could understand the want of a James T Kirk on the bridge image for a stamp, but if I'm to be honest, I wonder if a screen capture would be lazy. An artistic representation seems to be somewhat more desirable.
Personally, I really like (dig) the top left yellow one.

I'm posting the image of the Star Trek stamps since they seem to be the major point of discussion here. I agree that the stamps could have been much better in design than what the end result appears to be. Does anyone else find it interesting that no wording is used to describe the Star Trek stamps? A stand alone stamp appearing on a cover would have some non-collectors and/or non-Trekkie fans a bit stumped by the design(s).

I was thinking that the new Priority Mail stamp looked familiar, then I remembered the post card with a similar design - UX164:

It never ceases to amaze me how uninspired and boring our stamp designs are compared to those issued by other countries. Then again, I shouldn't be surprised, given the hullabaloo that ensues when any pop culture subject is issued; a myriad of cranky old men shouting at clouds lamenting the end of the world because the USPS DARE issue something culturally relevant, as opposed to IMPORTANT subjects... like commemorating the 21st Secretary of the Interior.

I suppose it's a moot point though, as I tend to use 10-30 year old postage anyway...
