I try to not bother this forum by calling out a lot of bad listings. And I presume that many folks know that US #315 is often faked by trimming off the perfs, it needs to be 21.5x25 mm or larger to get a cert.

But an ebay seller named chesawc has a trend of offering trimmed #315s. Here is one of his current listings with a trimmed stamp (which has bids)

To his credit, he has added a note at the bottom of the current listing saying it might be trimmed. The perfs are visible as shown below.

The #315 is one of the most often seen trimmed stamps in the marketplace. If you are seeking a #315 their are two options to get a real one. Buy one with an exiting cert or take a chance on buying one that measures 21.5 x 25 mm or larger.

Yes, this guy sells a lot of these (see his previous ebay names). Apparently the rest of us are missing the boat when selling on ebay.

The "C3a" is up to $810 with 3 hours to go. Sucker bidding? Perhaps. It's a private listing, so we can't see who's doing what. It also could be rich guys goofing around. I know a couple of investment bankers who wouldn't blink at spending $800 for lunch in Manhattan, so maybe it's someone who wants a framed "C3a" on his wall as a gag. As forgeries go, this one is decent.

Getting back to the 315... I have done a lot of business with this seller and you are just as apt to buy something incorrectly identified in the buyers favor. He is completely unlike some of the predators on ebay that in several ways always have the deck stacked in their favor and will get the best of you almost every time.

A 315 is another one you just dont buy without a cert. I found this website about them and bookmarked once while I was looking into some.

The seller I have bought smaller stuff from and never a problem, alot of these things end up on ebay because people got them in a collection they are spliting up.
