My list of philatelic literatur is very short, to be honest, but doesn't anybody who collects stamps at some point is going need literature for his area?

Hamburg has a whole library for nothing but philatelic literature:
http://www.philatelistische-bibliothek.de/

I haven't been there yet and I don't think I'll be able to go there in the near future, but I'd definitely love to

Yes, Tina -- the scans you showed are called stamp booklets. The pane of stamps in them (sometimes more than one pane) are called booklet panes.

When the stamp booklet has never been opened, it's sometimes referred to as an "unexploded" booklet. There are some collectors (not me) that like to collect unexploded booklets. I prefer being able to see the stamps.

A lot of collectors like to collect only the booklet panes without the actual booklet. I like to collect both ways.

Tina...

Singles are individual stamps from a booklet, sheet or coil.

....a pane is a small sheet....sized to fit in a booklet or it can be a pane/sheet of 20-25 stamps.
