This one really caught my eye as I was sorting through a pile of covers. Too bad George got socked in the face.

The stamp is well centered and in a beautiful state of "preservation." But, in my opinion, the cancel ruins the "presentation." The face, especially the eyes, are the prime focal points for stamps with busts or portraits. In this case, every feature of George's face is obscured.

It's just my opinion, but this stamp has no eye appeal to me. In my 30+ years of collecting stamps, I've learned to put eye appeal above all other factors. For me, this affects satisfaction of ownership, and resale value later on. Many collectors put too much weight on centering, in my opinion.

I am in agreement Classic Coins. Eye appeal can atone for a multitude of imperfections.

Ken, does the cover have a month and year date, and where was it mailed from?

Thanks, Ray

It's a nice NYC cover with no date.
