I have this unused pair that I'm struggling to identify. On the few other #156 I have, the secret mark stands out. This pair, not so much...but I do see some color in the pearl.
Not sure if my pics will be of any help. Thought I'd give it a try.
Also sometimes what I struggle to ID, is obvious and easy for folks here.

I should probably erase this thread. I will leave it for potential discussion though.

After creating this thread, I went to Stampsmarter.com / 1847usa. Now I see this pair is likely Scott #206.

I sent one away to get checked once only to find out that it was one that had a dash that someone tried to remove .

Is there any chance it`s 206? I haven't enough experience, but the ornamental balls at top seem to have shading as suggested for a 206.

lol, thanks KGB.

Kingstonstamper, before I went to the other web site, I also suspected the mark may have been tampered with.

Stampcrow, somewhere in this forum I read a post about your question. It suggested that indeed after the plates got worn the secret mark starts to get very difficult to distinguish.
I have tried but can not find the post!

Sorry Kevin, but the stamp is not a 145. Look at the upper arabesques. It is a 206 with a weak secret mark. I would like to see the other stamp in the pair.

Sorry, my camera Batteries gave up the ghost after the couple of pictures I took.
So that leaves me, for now, with the scanner. It's not much use but here it is.
Tomorrow I'll get fresh batteries.

1st photo had to be "enhanced"....
The color is not the same in the pair.

Not enhanced per se. It's that the camera (first pics) show different than the scan (pair pic). I have less than adequate equipment.
