Dear sirs

Because I am from Indonesia, most of my collection is from Indonesia Stamps.
I also have Indonesia stamp Catalog 2009. But when I try to compare the market price with my catalog, the market price is lower more than catalog price.
I try sell my PATA 1974 sets, in catalog is Rp. 750.000,- but in our market, it is not pass 30% from the catalog. for others stamp, sometime not more than 5% from the catalog.

I make an Indonesia Stamp Catalog in this link

http://indonesiastampcatalog.synthasite.com/

please have a look. the price is from catalog before 2009.

Do you know, the real market price for our Indonesian Stamps ? and what the collector think about our Stamp ? only like a cinderella stamp or souvenir stamps ?

thanks alot, cause in Indonesia, many of us think our stamp very famous cause always enter the philatelia exhibition.

nice to join your forum

I like Indonesian stamps -- very nice colors, interesting subject matter. I think most people consider them to be legitimate stamps, rather than cinderellas.

However, I think most long-time collectors are aware of the large numbers of "Indonesian" stamps from the late 40s-early 50s that were printed in Vienna (I'm thinking of the UPU issue), not to mention the issues from South Moluccas, and I think that perhaps this cools some people's enthusiasm over all for Indonesian stamps.

PS: I also like your banknotes, too.

I don't know how the Indonesia catalog is designed concerning the values, the German Michel catalog says, that it's catalog values aren't real "monetary" values, but values to compare the stamps to each other. Other catalogs try to list the real market price.

Here in Germany 10% of the catalog value is somehow the "norm". You can get more, if you have classic stamps or otherwise really rare ones, but usually it's these 10% you can get.

But to be honest, I don't know anybody who specifically collects Indonesian stamps. I collect them, if I find some I don't already have by chance, but I'm not out there looking for them.
I guess it would be hard to sell these here, if you don't know someone who's specialized in Indonesian stamps.

The few I have, I do like
I haven't seen that many yet, I concentrated on other areas so far.

Apa Kabar Tjetjun:

I collect Indonesia and Netherlands Indies, as my girlfriend is Indonesian.

Most stamps post-1950 catalogue at the minimum 20˘ value; however, the post-2000 stamps, especially souvenir sheets, are becoming expensive. If you can get ahold of a recent Scott catalogue, it would help you out on this board.

Let me know if you're interested in trading.

David
