Hi all,

I came across this stamp today and was curious if anyone knew where the Shanghai China cancel/postmark originated from? I've never seen anything similar related to a Shanghai China cancel in English on an American stamp from the era.

Thanks in advance!

It might be a ship cancel, perhaps the navy on a trip.

I agree with revcollector. The stamp has a portion of a 3-bar US Navy ship cancel similar in style to the one below, with space between the bars to insert the ship's location.

Can we guess the ship? (There's not much to go by.)

Not sure that is an N at the endof the cancel, it looks more like an H.

Very cool. Yes I do think it looks more like an H also.

It's a lazy Saturday here; I think I'll see what else I can come up with today.
