And, Crouse27, with my post you will have the penultimate post in the thread, but probably only temporarily. Thanks for using one of my favorite words!

For genuine examples of these stamps at appropriately stratospheric prices, check out the Hanover collection at Robert Siegel Auction Galleries, on sale on April 7.

Crouse27's now is the prepenultimate post, and Rhett's is the penultimate. For now. It can be only a matter of time before Crouse27 is the anteprepenultimate ...

Noticed there is also what appears to be the 1 cent Z grill that is pictured on the back of my 2014 Scott Specialized U.S. catalogue included in his listing. Mystic says they paid 935,000 for it. Looks like he just grabbed whatever nice looking stamps there are pictures of for his listing.

At least two of us have reported this listing and ebay still has it out there. What in heck does it take? Guess they don't want to ruin their chance at a big seller fee.

Stamps1962,
I know of some listings that were reported >25 times without any action from ebay. As another example, in early 2014 ebay Trust & Safety closed over 40 accounts of a well known stamp scammer; then they allow him right back in to establish new multiple accounts and he is still running today. ebay also has no rules against, nor looks out for, convicted felons from having accounts. So I would say don't expect ebay to do a thing on any listing other than what their algorithms catch (i.e no Cuba).

As of this post it's up to $9100 and the bidder that took it to $9000 has a total of 5 bids on 3 items with 3 bid retractions and 100% of their bids are with this seller, not too suspicious at all........

Up to $18,300 with a couple hours left to go. Seems that there is a real bidder being run up by a couple of shills.

This "collection" is taken from stamp album pages that a French fellow is producing in PDF form commonly available on the net.

He uses Steiner pages & then he has added stamp images onto the PDFs. He has a fair number of countries available all for free download. With a bit of computor wizardry you can delete the images which leaves you with the bare Steiner pages.

The give-away in this instance are the square US Scott 1-4 images that he's put onto the page, also the big black border around Scott 11.

I still don`t believe any of it. Of course, having more money than you can use should not rule out someone as being incautious.

Out of curiosity I asked the seller for close up images (back and front) of a few of the stamps he had listed. These are what he ended up sending to me.....

If the buyer is real--it closed at $18,300--and a dispute arises, the seller wins. The description is phrased in a way that is just clever enough to be defended as accurately stating that the lot consists of printed facsimiles, rather than real stamps. It is phrased in a way that is intentionally ambiguous, so if you are a sucker and want to believe the stamps are genuine, you can read it that way, and if you are the seller and want to read it as offering stamp images that the seller printed, it can be read that way also.

The typos "PES" are intentional. No full name of a recognized certification authority is actually used. Everything after the word "jacket" up to "resolution" could be interpreted as referring to other things the seller has sold in the past, not this lot - at least that's what the seller will say.

The description is reproduced below for the record.

Quote:
USA Stamp Collection 1847 - 1940, complete, total 108 pages pre printed stamps, missing a total of 24 stamps in the collection, I just finished this collection with personal page pre-printed stamps in transparant jacket, some stamps are sealed PES, PES or with other PF certificates and some are signed by experts, look at my feedback, alot of PSE stamps bought on ebay.com, which certify that I am in possession of what I sell, I make two pictures with some stamps lot has 2 albums of stamps, 1 with preprinted personal page, authentic full collection, unused stamp, or some I had not unused, are used, complete with links pictures from my collection that I scanned in high resolution, collection will not be sent by simply post items but by ups or chronopost, a good auction all.
