Hi all, I am not wanting to get into Stamps all that much as I have way too many collections going and my insurnace agent is new and freaking out at all the stuff I listed on my form so far... BUT

I was occasionally collecting sheets for my kids related to "Animation" "Cartoons" etc. All I have are modern stamps, I have:
2 Looney Tunes Souvenir panes (33 cent stamp on each one of Daffy Duck and one of Wile E Coyote/Road Runner). I'd love to find the other stamps but don't know what else was in this collection.

In addition I have:
2 sheets of DC Comics Super Heroes (set of 20 39 cents)
2 Sheets of Star Wars (18 different stamps 41 cent stamps)
2 sheets of The Art of Disney Celebration (set of 20 37 cents)
2 Sheets of Jim Henson Muppets (set of 11 37 cent stamps)
1 Sheet of Baseball Sluggers (set of 20 39 cents)
2 Sheets of Disney Stamps (set of 20 42 cents)
2 books of Simpson Stamps (book of 20 44 cents)

I know that's nothing... but I am only wanting comics, cartoons, animation stuff... is there somewhere I can go to find out say everything released 1999 till now? Without buying a book that is?

If there's too many I don't know what I can get, but I've been collecting Mint Proof sets for them since 1999 and I wanted to do all the stamps too.

Any recommendations on buying these? How is ebay for this sort of thing? I see some listed BELOW face value which I find odd?

thanks for any help you might be able to offer (I am NOT knowledgable here).

There are not that many cartoon stamps for the US. I'm under the impression that you are wanting US stamps only for your topical collection. You can usually go to a library and go to the reference section for the most recent Scott catalog to look through for cartoon stamps. I know the 1st cartoon stamps was for Popeye in the 1990's I think. I'll try and compile a list when I have a chance.

Yes thanks. Orginally I started out collecting all different Star Wars stamps but I sold all those off as I started to realize that I needed to focus (I was branching out on too many Star Wars areas). I keep collecting things.. ugh.

But I thought I should leave my kids something special for them. I will probably put 99% of my stuff in auctions but for them the coins and stamps are interesting I hope to them.

Thanks for your help. I'd love to have a list to fill in. Then I can just do the post office every so often.

Question to all, how often should I check post offices for new products? Is there a schedule available for the year or something ahead of time?

There is a schedule for upcoming releases at USPS.com. There is a store to purchase items. You can also get on their mailing list for the quarterly USPS philatelic catalog which is free.

If you go to the library take a look at Linn's stamp news, they have a US listing for 2009 in some form of every issue or Scotts stamp monthly which has a listing of upcoming issues world wide.

BTW I LOVE STAR WARS!

Thanks again. That's all great info I'll use. I'll sign up for the mailing and that should help me keep up. Free is good! LOL

Okay Linn's and Scotts... good to know.

Star Wars rules. I have a large collection of Star Wars autographs (thousands). starwarsautographcollecting.com is my site. I don't deal; just collect. Too much!

Here is a quick list of scott #'s: 1355 walt disney, 3000-comic strip classics sheet of 15,3137 bugs bunny,3185 celebrate the century 1930's sheet of 15(superman & snow white),3187 celebrate the century 1950's sheet of 15(cat in the hat),3204 sylvester & tweety, 3306 daffy duck, 3391 wile e coyote & road runner, 3507 peanuts ie. Snoopy, 3534 porky pig, 3835 Dr. Seus, 3865-3868 Disney Friendship, 3912-15 Disney Celebrate, & there was Disney Romance & Disney Magic.

FYI: Most contemporary stamps do not rise in catalog value quickly and can be easily acquired.

I hope this helps. As for other stamp just think about what your childrens interests are. Just about anything you can think of is depicted on a stamp from somewhere.

Thanks so much for your hard work. It seems I have quite a few still to back up and get... The Simpsons ones are cute. Yeah, I see the prices haven't rised much if at all and in some cases sell LESS on ebay than they were purchased from! Thanks again; that was cool of you.

EASY....

Go to http://www.mysticstamp.com/ and browse their online catalog. You'll find pictures and those all-important Scott Catalog numbers for all the stamps mentioned in this thread. To view the online catalog, click on the tab marked "Order Stamps & Supplies." For the newer stamps, you'll want to jump to the latter pages of the catalog.

By the way, I would recommend that you NOT purchase any stamps from Mystic. Most folks here will agree they are overpriced.
