I picked up a few items at a recent auction. This is Scott 117. I know that there are some short perfs, but I got it at a good price, it fills a hole, and it was for a good cause.

My question is the cancellation color. Scott's tends to have an adder for a special cancellation color, and I've seen this touted on some auction sites. This item has at least two black cancellations, but there is also the hint of red at the bottom?

There are also some nice indications of the vertical and horizontal guides lines through the guide dot. Nice.

Beautiful stamp, Partime! I would not know if that little bit of red on the bottom can be called a cancel, but I sure love the horizontal and vertical guide lines and the big guide dot where they intersect! That is a keeper!

It would probably be called a "trace" of a red cancel, not enough to warrant a premium for a colored cancel. But I agree that it is a very nice stamp regardless.

There's a premium for strawberry jam? (Wink.)

P.S. Nice stamp!

I found this one on ebay advertised as a Baltimore foreign cancel, The color is certainly close to what is found on your stamp, partime.

Jam it is, and thanks for the comparison picture. I had good results at an auction, so I have a few to post here and there. Maybe more tomorrow.
