Thought if anyone was in that area you could visit this place--my sister-in-law works in Tourism in that area.

Thanks!

Gussyboy,
Thanks for sharing. My family and I are heading to Daytona & Stuart FL in September. I may have to slide this in as a side trip.

May I suggest heading to Illinois's state capital Springfield to continue the celebration of Abe's 200th Birthday. You can visit the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Musuem, Lincoln's Home, Lincoln's Tomb, Lincoln Herndon Law Office, Old State Capitol, Union Station, and Lincoln's Depot.

For some good road food try The Cozy Dog Drive In, Joe Roger's Chilli Parlor, Charlie Parker's, The Dublin Pub.

Check out a movie at the outdoor 2 screen Route 66 Drive In for a current double feature.

Also, see the Dana-Thomas House built by Frank Lloyd Wright, Shea's Gas Station Musuem, and the Illinois State Musuem.

Londonbus1,
I LOVE IT!

There used to be a stamp shop called B & J Coin on the Macarthur Blvd alignment of Route 66. They carried Baseball, Coin, Stamp and other collecting supplies and items. It had slowly declined to just stamp supplies, coin, and cards. The husband had been very ill for a long time and the wife was running things until it closed for good a few years ago. He was a bit overpriced on everything though, I did not frequent them regularly. Plus they were not very friendly.

LUNDY ISLAND !!!

Now there's a great place to go for your vacation.

You can go by ship.....or if you are feeling flush, you can take a plane and land on the tiny airstrip on the Island !

The British mainland will seem miles away as you search the sights of this tiny Island off the Devon coast..

If you are lucky, you will catch a glimpse of one of those Island inhabitants, the pesky Puffin...

Why, you can even go at Christmas...but you'll probably be alone !

Finally, you can rest assured that it will be a special place to visit....it has the Royal seal of approval !!

Londonbus1.....Never been there in my life !!

We always go on vacation the first week of July, (I don't think we've ever spent the 4th at home) and usually its Daytona or somewhere in the vicinity. But this year we are going to Hilton Head, SC. Too bad or I would definitely make a trip here. I always make the boys go somewhere "educational" and this would do it,lol! Maybe next year, thanks for posting this.

Summer vacation to North Shore, Lake Superior is beautiful and deadly at the same time, breathtaking. Even in Canada.

David Giles, why do you have the idea that everyone's nicer in the USA? Is something going on in Montreal, Canada?

Mike:

I always vacation in the US... it's alot of fun. I don't speak French very well, so I don't get much of a reception. I do better in the US.

Big stamp show in Albany, NY the last week of September of this year!
